What ingredients are used in this Spiced Pumpkin Butter

  • Baked Pumpkin Puree – In this recipe I baked a pie pumpkin to make this butter, but a canned pumpkin puree will do just as well. If using canned pumpkin, look for a pumpkin puree, not the pumpkin pie mix. The best way to make sure you get the right canned pumpkin is to read the ingredients, it should have just pumpkin, no spices. Tip: If you bake your own pumpkin you can save the seeds and try my Roasted Pumpkin Seeds recipe!
  • Unsweetened Apple Sauce – I did not want any extra sugar added to this recipe, this is why I chose unsweetened apple sauce. This also helps thicken the butter as well.
  • Lemon Juice – Lemon juice will add brightness while keeping things fresh.
  • Real Maple Syrup – Real maple syrup adds to the flavor of this pumpkin butter, with the hints of caramel and vanilla, it makes for the perfect sweetener.
  • Spices – Everyone has a combination of their favorite spices, and I added mine to this spiced pumpkin butter. You can change these up to you and your families favorite spices.
  • Real Vanilla Extract – Vanilla extract will add more of that warm and cozy flavor needed in this pumpkin butter. It compliments the other ingredients in the recipe.
