This Homemade Chili Powder is so easy to make and uses simple ingredients.

But why make your own chili powder?

For starters, you can customize it for you and your family’s likes.

Also, some may have allergies to certain spices that are added in the pre-made blended spice, and I am one of them.

I have become intolerant to certain spices that are common in chili powders, so this is my reason for making my own.

And because chili powder can be used in so many different dishes, it is a must have in my spice cabinet!

Here are just a few ways to use this chili powder.

You have to have chili powder when making your own chili, or add it to this recipe of mine, How to make a customizable vegan chili.

Season your fries before baking.

Mix it in a dip for chips, crackers, or even vegetables.

Sprinkle it on as a seasoning before roasting nuts or seeds, like my Roasted Pumpkin Seeds.

  • Garlic – I used garlic powder in this mix. This powder is made of dehydrated garlic cloves, it’s a slight earthy flavored spice that has a nutty but also a slightly sweet flavor.
  • Cayenne Pepper – Cayenne pepper can taste similar to paprika. This spice has a slight sweetness with a hint of smokiness and can have a little heat.
  • Onion – In this recipe I used onion powder. This powder is made of dehydrated ground onions and has a slightly sweet flavor.
