Have you ever tried a Vidalia Onion Dressing? If not it is a must try!
The sweet and tangy flavor of this dressing makes it perfect for just about anything, and of course it is so addicting.
I fell in love with this dressing years ago, trying as many different brands that I could find, but I soon found out not all are created equal.
The one I fell in love with was hard to find and kind of expensive, so I decided to create my own Vidalia Onion Dressing.
Wow! I was surprised how simple this dressing was to make, and so inexpensive!
Why use a Vidalia Onion?
A regular yellow onion will have a sharp pungent, strong, and bitter flavor.
But the vidalia onion has a sweet and mild flavor that will blend well without overpowering.
How to use this dressing?
This dressing can be used for so much more than just a leafy green salad.
Try it as a condiment for dipping fries or adding to your sandwiches, drizzle onto steamed vegetables, corn on the cob, a fruit salad, or even cold pasta.
What is in this dressing?
- Onion – A vidalia onion.
- Oil – I used the mild flavored avocado oil for this dressing.
- Real Maple Syrup – My sweetener of choice is maple syrup. Maple syrup adds just a hint of a caramel and vanilla flavor that compliment all the ingredients in this dressing so well.
- Vinegar – I used an apple cider vinegar in the dressing to give it the right amount of tang.
- Lemon Juice – This can be substituted with a lime juice. The citrus juice adds a slight fruity flavor with an extra tanginess.
- Mustard – A simple yellow mustard is my favorite for this recipe. I love the earthy, crisp, and clean flavor a plain yellow mustard adds to a recipe.
- Poppy Seeds – The poppy seed adds a mild nutty flavor with a slight crunchy texture, plus a pleasantly pleasing look to the dressing.
- Seasonings – Minced garlic, salt, and pepper are all the seasonings needed to make this dressing.
