Shallot Celery Seed Vinaigrette

Last Updated on September 24, 2023

A refreshing, tangy, and flavorful Shallot Celery Seed Vinaigrette that is not just a dressing for a salad, but so much more!

There is so many ways to use this tasty, simple, non dairy vinaigrette.

It works wonderfully on a cold pasta salad.

Or why not add it to a mixed bean salad.

You can also drizzle it on a pasta salad with beans.

Marinate tofu or fresh vegetables, for a tangy main dish or side dish.

It can also be used as a dip or sauce for fresh vegetables and as a side for a hot or cold entree.

Just because it is a simple combination, doesn’t mean that it lacks in flavor or for that matter, uses.

Ingredients needed for this vinaigrette

  • Oil – In this recipe I used avocado oil, but a good olive oil would work well.
  • Lemon Juice – To make a vinaigrette, you need an acid. I like to use lemon juice to add a citrus flavor to the dressing.
  • Onion – My onion of choice is the mild flavored shallot. You can use any onion that you have on hand.
  • Thyme – I used a dried thyme in this recipe, a fresh thyme would be even better!
  • Celery Seeds – To add in the flavor of the freshness of celery, I used celery seed. The seed adds a slight bitter, earthy flavor that works well in this dressing.
  • Real Maple Syrup – Adding a sweetener balances and mutes the strong flavors in the dressing. My sweetener of choice is real maple syrup, which adds just the right amount of sweetness with a hint of a smokey vanilla caramel flavor.
  • Salt – Salt enhances the flavors in the dressing.
  • Pepper – Adding to the flavor.
  • Balsamic Vinegar – Adding balsamic vinegar adds a different fruity flavor with a hint of sweetness to the dressing.
