This refreshing Hibiscus Spritzer uses simple to find ingredients, is easy to make, and full of flavor.

There is only 5 simple ingredients in this hibiscus spritzer, not including the garnish.

The spritzer is tart and sour from the orange juice, pineapple juice, and the hibiscus tea.

It also has a beautiful bright red color from the hibiscus flower.

This spritzer is so easy to make and a refreshing caffeine free drink for anytime of day.

You can make this spritzer ahead of time so that it is easily available for small gatherings of friends.

Personally, I enjoy this spritzer as a non alcoholic beverage, but it can also become a must have cocktail with alcohol.

The alcohol that I believe would be the most complimentary in the spritzer would be vodka or tequila.

An alternative to the sparkling water would be your favorite bubbly champagne.

The sweetness of the champagne would compliment the hibiscus tart and sour flavor nicely.

Ingredients for the spritzer

  • Boiling Water – Boiling water to steep the tea.
  • Hibiscus Tea Bag – This tart and tangy herbal tea has a bright red color and is caffeine free.
  • Pineapple Juice – A sweet and tangy juice that pairs perfectly with the hibiscus tea.
  • Orange Juice – Another sweet and tangy juice that works well with the hibiscus tea.
  • Sparkling Water – I love to add sparkling water to a lot of my juices. With this spritzer I have used flavored sparkling water. Some of my favorites are lemon/lime, watermelon, ginger citrus twist, blackberry lemonade, or raspberry nectarine.

Optional

  • Alcohol – Try different varieties of alcohol in your spritzer, vodka or tequila are the ones that will compliment the spritzer the most.
  • Champagne – Champagne can be added in place of the sparkling water.

Garnish for the spritzer

  • Citrus – Sliced lemon or limes.
  • Herbs – Try different varieties of herbs, such as pineapple sage, cinnamon basil, lemon basil, lime basil, or any variety of mint.

How to make the Hibiscus Spritzer

Boil the water.

Place a tea bag into a quart sized canning jar or measuring cup.

Pour the boiling water over the tea bag.

Steep the tea bag for 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove the tea bag after steeping, and if using a measuring cup, pour into a canning jar with lid.

Cover and place the brewed tea into the refrigerator for about 4 hours or overnight.

After the tea has cooled, remove from the refrigerator, add the pineapple and orange juice.

Return the mixture to the refrigerator until ready to mix.

Prepare the garnish before making up the spritzers.

If using fresh citrus, slice and set aside.

Clean the fresh herbs and set aside.

Remove the tea/juice mix from the refrigerator.

Pour the tea/juice mix into a glass, add as much as you would like ( I pour the mixer to fill the glass half way).

If you would like ice cubes, go ahead and add a couple to the glass with the mixture.

Top off the mixture with the sparkling water of your choice.

Add the garnish of your choice, such as sliced citrus, fresh herbs, or both.
