What makes these Vegan Dirty Blondie Brownies so dirty? It’s the cinnamon!
These blondie brownies still have the same memorable taste as all the other blondie brownies you have tried over the years.
But with a few changes, I added cinnamon as well as tofu for the egg substitute.
And why use tofu as the egg substitute?
Tofu always gives me a perfect result when it comes to any of my baked desserts.
It results in a soft/cakey texture with no after taste and adds a beautiful golden color to my baked goods.
So why did I add cinnamon to these blondies?
The cinnamon adds a warming flavored spice to the brownies that compliments the chocolate chips nicely.
Want to change this brownie up a bit, add different chopped nuts or a different chip instead of the chocolate chip.
Ingredients needed for these brownies
- Oil – I like to use either olive or avocado oil in these brownies.
- Margarine – Use your favorite vegan margarine.
- Sugar – I used a brown sugar in this recipe. Brown sugar adds a richer flavor as well as color and extra moisture to the brownie.
- Tofu – I used a silken soft tofu as the egg substitute.
- Baking Soda – Baking soda allows the brownie to rise and become light and fluffy.
- Hot Water – The hot water helps the baking soda to react more effectively in this recipe. It also helps to create a fluffier, lighter, and softer brownie.
- Pure Vanilla Extract – The vanilla extract adds flavor to the recipe.
- Flour – I used a all purpose white flour in this recipe.
- Chocolate Chips – I used a semi sweet chocolate chip in these brownies. Add your favorite chips.
Topping ingredients needed
- Sugar – I used brown sugar on the top of the brownie, this will help with the browning of the top.
- Cinnamon – Ground cinnamon is mix in with the sugar.
How to make Vegan Dirty Blondie Brownies
Drain the tofu and wrap the block into a linen towel, let this rest for about 10 minutes before cutting it in half.
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Grease a 13 x 9 glass baking dish with margarine, set aside.
After the tofu has drained for 10 minutes, cut the block in half and add to a mixing bowl, along with oil, margarine, and sugars, blend together until creamy.
Slowly add the flour about a 1/2 cup at a time, then continue to add the remaining ingredients.
After the dough is well combined, add and stir in the chocolate chips.
Pour and spread the dough into the greased baking dish.
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the top of the brownies.
Place the dish into oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes.
Check the bars after 25 to 30 minutes by inserting a toothpick in the center of the bars, the toothpick should come out clean when it is done. (Baking times can vary.)
Remove from the oven to cool.
Once the brownies are cool, cut, and serve.
