A vegan Chocolate Pudding that is so easy to make, rich, and full of that chocolatey goodness that we all love.
When is the best time to enjoy this delicious chocolate pudding?
Traditionally, pudding would be a sweet or savory dish saved for the final course of a meal.
Nowadays, most know it as a dessert, but it doesn’t have to be, it can also be enjoyed as a sweet and chocolatey snack.
What are some of the different ways to serve or enjoy this chocolate treat?
You can serve it with a fresh dollop of whipped cream or try your homemade chocolate pudding on top of your favorite vanilla ice cream. YUMMY!
Or why not make a chocolate pie by adding this pudding to a pie crust and topping it with whipped cream.
Another great way to enjoy your pudding is to put it into popsicle molds and freeze for a refreshing summer time treat!
Just because you are a vegan, does not mean you can’t enjoy a rich, chocolatey, and creamy dessert, you can!

Ingredients needed for this pudding
- Plant Based Milk – The plant based milk I used in this pudding is a unsweetened vanilla almond milk for the base, use your favorite plant based milk for the pudding.
- Sugar – The sweetener of choice is a pure cane sugar.
- Cornstarch – I used cornstarch to thicken the pudding.
- Salt – Salt will enhance the other ingredients in the pudding.
- Cocoa Powder – Using cocoa powder in the pudding adds intensity to the chocolate flavor.
- Real Vanilla Extract – The vanilla extract enhances the rich chocolatey flavor in the pudding.
How to make a Vegan Chocolate Pudding
In a medium sauce pan, add all the above ingredients.
Whisk everything together to break down the lumps of the cornstarch and cocoa powder.
Start heating the ingredients on medium heat while constantly stirring.
Bring everything to a boil.
Once everything is at a boil, continue cooking and stirring, for about 10 minutes or until the pudding thickens.
Once the pudding thickens, remove from the heat to cool.
If using your pudding for a ice cream topping, pour over your dish of ice cream, while the pudding is still warm.
Or if you are making a pie filling with this pudding, add the pudding to the pie crust, place in the refrigerator to cool and thicken, before serving.
But if enjoying just the pudding by itself, pour the warm pudding into dishes, place int the refrigerator to cool and serve with a dollop of your favorite whipped topping.
When storing your pudding or pie, cover and place in the refrigerator.
Vegan Chocolate Pudding
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp Cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 4 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
- 3 Cup Plant Based Milk I used a unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Pick your favorite milk.
- 1 tsp Real Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- In a medium sauce pan, add all the above ingredients.
