If you love mushrooms, you are going to love these Slow Cooked Mushrooms!

It is such a simple and easy appetizer for a family get together, a party or even for the holiday’s.

Just throw everything into a slow cooker and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours and you’ll have these savory and tender mushrooms ready to enjoy!

Leftovers?

Don’t throw out the left over mushrooms or the sauce on the bottom of the crock, save it!

I love to add the left over mushrooms to pasta, burgers, stir fries, soups or chili.

Use the sauce in a stir fry as the base or add it to your cooked pasta with fresh herbs and vegetables.

You will be able to make many meals just from this simple recipe.

Ingredients needed to make these mushrooms

  • Mushrooms – Mushrooms have a slightly earthy, savory meaty taste and texture. Today you will be able to find many different varieties available in the stores, but I currently love the portabello, shiitake, or the cremini mushrooms for this appetizer.
  • Oil – I used a avocado oil for this recipe, but a good olive oil would work just as well.
  • Seasonings – I wanted to keep this appetizer simple, so I used minced garlic, onion powder, salt and pepper. Because I love changing up my recipes all the time, I encourage experimenting with different spices. Here are a few examples that can compliment mushrooms, rosemary, thyme, dill, parsley, basil or chives.

How to make Slow Cooked Mushrooms

Clean the mushrooms and place them into a medium sized slow cooker.

Next, drizzle the oil over all the mushrooms.

Follow by sprinkling the seasonings over the mushrooms.

Stir the mushrooms until everything is covered well with the oil and seasoning.

Turn the temperature to low on the slow cooker.

Leave the mushrooms to cook for 3 to 4 hours, checking and stir every once in a while.

After the mushrooms have darkened and softened, they are done.
