A homemade Vanilla Pudding that is so rich, creamy and full of that sweet vanilla flavor that we all love.
This simply easy vanilla pudding is just as simple as the boxed puddings, but the taste is incomparable.
You are able to use this pudding just as you would the boxed vanilla pudding.
So trust me, you will never go back to the boxed puddings again after making this sweet treat.
What I love about pudding is that it has so many uses.
Pudding is not only a dessert, but a snack, a pie filling, or even a dip.
You can serve this dessert with a dollop of whipped cream and enjoy.
Drizzle the warm pudding on top of your favorite ice cream as a sauce.
Pour it into a pie crust, top it off with banana’s, coconut, or even fresh berries and enjoy it as a pie.
You can also make pudding popsicles to keep you cool during those hot summer days.
Or use this pudding as a cracker or cookie dip.
So why would you ever buy pre-made pudding when it is so easy to make your very own homemade vanilla pudding from scratch.
Ingredients needed to make this pudding
- Milk – 2% or whole milk work the best in this pudding.
- Sugar – I used pure cane sugar for the sweetener.
- Cornstarch – I used cornstarch to thicken the pudding.
- Salt – Salt enhances all the flavors in the pudding.
- Real Vanilla Extract – Vanilla extract enhances and adds more of that vanilla flavor to the pudding.
How to make this Easy Homemade Vanilla Pudding
In a medium sauce pan, mix together the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
Mix everything until it is well combined, but do not add the vanilla.
Start heating the ingredients on medium heat while constantly stirring.
Bring everything to a boil, continue to let it boil for about 2 to 3 minutes or until it thickens.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Let the pudding cool if using as a ice cream topping.
If using the pudding as a dip, pour into a serving dish, cover, refrigerate until cooled and ready to serve.
Or if you are making a pie filling with this pudding, add the pudding to the pie crust, place in the refrigerator to cool and thicken, before serving.
But if enjoying just the pudding by itself, pour the warm pudding into dishes, place into the refrigerator to cool and serve with a dollop of whipped topping.
Enjoy!
