Want a delicious treat that is full of all the fall flavors? Try this Pear Apple Butter!

What a wonderful way to make the most of the fall season.

Combining the pear, which is ripe at the end of summer, with the apple, which is ready during the beginning of fall.

Blending these together makes for a flavorful and fragrant start of the holiday season.

This recipe is so simple, just add all the ingredients together into a slow cooker and leave it to cook throughout the day.

Enjoy the absolutely wonderful smells of fall while this slowly cooks.

Then blend for a smooth texture and store in jars for a perfectly smooth preserve that can be used in so many different ways!

Ingredients needed for this butter

  • Pears – I used the Bartlett Pear for this butter. This pear has a classic flavor that is full of juice. It has a soft texture and full of pear sweetness.
  • Apples – With this recipe I used the Gala Apple. Any apple will work with this recipe. I used the Gala apple because it has a slight vanilla flavor and is so sweet and crisp. It is great to use in a apple sauce or juice.
  • Orange Juice – OJ adds a little citrus along with a sweet and tangy flavor to the butter.
  • Lemon Juice – Adding lemon juice helps to tone down the sweetness in the butter.
  • Pure Vanilla – The vanilla enhances all the flavors of the butter.
  • Maple Syrup – Maple syrup is just one of the sweeteners I added to the butter. It adds a slight smoky caramel and vanilla flavor.
  • Brown Sugar – I also added a little brown sugar, it adds a toffee/caramel flavor to the butter.
  • Seasonings – I added a little clove, cardamon, salt, ginger, and cinnamon to spice things up.

How to make a Pear Apple Butter

Clean, peel, remove the core, dice the pears and apples, then add them to the slow cooker.

Add all the remaining ingredients and cook on high for about 5 to 6 hours, or until the apples are soft.

After the apples and pears are soft, blend with a hand immersion blender until smooth.

Turn the slow cooker down to medium and cook for about 1 to 2 hours or until the butter is to your desired consistency.

Once the butter is to the thickness you like, turn off the slow cooker and leave the butter to cool until you can handle the crock.

Ladle the butter into canning jars for storing, leaving these out to continue to cool before storing in the refrigerator until ready to use.
