Equipment

  • 1 Hand held Immersion Blender
  • 1 Slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. Pears I like to use the Bartlett Pear.
  • 4 Apples Choose your favorite. I used the Gala Apple in this recipe.
  • 1/3 Cup Orange Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 3 Tbsp Brown Sugar Optional or lower the amount.
  • 1/3 Cup Real Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1 Pinch Ground Clove
  • 1 Pinch Ground Cardamom
  • 1 Pinch Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Pure Vanilla

Instructions

  • Clean, peel, remove the core, dice the pears and apples, then add them to the slow cooker.
  • Add all the remaining ingredients and cook on high for about 5 to 6 hours, or until the apples are soft.
  • After the apples and pears are soft, blend with a hand immersion blender until smooth.
  • Turn the slow cooker down to medium and cook for about 1 to 2 hours or until the butter is to your desired consistency.
  • Once the butter is to the thickness you like, turn off the slow cooker and leave the butter to cool until you can handle the crock.
  • Ladle the butter into canning jars for storing, leaving these out to continue to cool before storing in the refrigerator until ready to use.
