Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cup Plant based Milk In this recipe I used a unsweetened plain almond milk.
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Real Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1/8 tsp Ground Cardamon
  • 1/8 tsp Ground Fennel or Fennel Seeds
  • 1 Whole Star Anise Can use extra for garnish.
  • 2 Whole Cloves
  • 2 Whole Peppercorn
  • 2 Cinnamon Stick Can use extra for garnish.
  • 1 Tbsp Real Maple Syrup
  • 2 Black Tea Bags Remove the string and tag from the tea bags.

Instructions

  • In a medium sized sauce pan, add all the ingredients, keeping out the tea bags.
  • Bring everything to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer.
  • Simmer for 10 minutes while stirring.
  • After simmering for 10 minutes, add the tea bags. Before adding the tea bags remove the string and tags from the bags.
  • Stir in the tea bags and let them steep for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Gather 2 mugs and strain the mixture into the mugs.
  • If you want your chai cold, strain the mixture into a quart canning jar, cover and place into the refrigerator to cool.
  • To serve, grab a tall glass filled with ice and pour the mixture in the glass.
  • Top with some Whipped Coconut Cream and a cinnamon stick or a garnish of star anise.
