A simply easy and tasty side dish for any time of year, Roasted Sweet Potatoes.

These tender, starchy, and mildly sweet little slices makes for a satisfying and comforting side dish, especially during the colder months.

The sweet potato can be enjoyed in so many different ways, but my favorite is to roast them.

There are so many different varieties of sweet potatoes or yams available at the market today.

And because of the many varieties, it is easy to try different colors, textures and flavors each time you roast the potatoes to find your favorites.

Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients needed for the recipe

  • Sweet Potatoes – With all the different varieties available today, experiment! Or mix together a variety of sweet potatoes or yams for a colorful side dish.
  • Oil – In this recipe I have used both olive oil and avocado oil. They both work very well, but will give you a little different taste.
  • Seasonings – I like to change this up from time to time. But my favorite is just salt and pepper. In this recipe I used onion and garlic powder along with the salt and pepper. I have also used rosemary, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, dill and thyme. Have fun and play with the seasonings to find your favorites.

How to make Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Preheat the oven to 425°F, prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

After cleaning the sweet potatoes, decide to leave the peeling on or peel the potatoes.

Slice or dice the potatoes and place them into a medium sized mixing bowl.

Drizzle the oil and sprinkle the seasoning over the potatoes.

Toss the potatoes to coat evenly, then pour onto the parchment paper.

Spread out the potatoes evenly.

Place into the oven and bake for 20 minutes.

After the 20 minutes, lightly toss or flip the potatoes and return to the oven.

Bake for about another 15 to 20 minutes, keeping a close eye on the potatoes, making sure they do not burn.

Once done, remove from the oven and serve.
