Homemade Sriracha Aioli

Last Updated on September 17, 2024

We are loving this slightly spicy Homemade Sriracha Aioli in our family!

Only 6 ingredients and 5 minutes is all you need to make this flavorful aioli.

A simple sauce that can be customized whichever way you like.

In our home, we use it as a dip for fries, sandwich spread, and even as a substitute for sour cream.

So in this recipe I wanted to create a sauce that will give you just that perfect amount of spice for what ever you decide to use it for.

Most are familiar with aioli and sriracha, but if you are new to these two, here is a little back ground information.

Is Aioli just a mayo?

Well, Aioli is similar to mayonnaise, but it’s flavored.

Some call it a flavored Mayonnaise because it has the same texture and look of a mayo.

Aioli is generally made with oils that has been emulsified with mashed garlic and salt into a creamy texture.

And that’s it! Simple, but full of flavor!

But there are different areas of the world that will add egg yolks, lemon juice, and even mustard.

And you will probably find all of these different versions at your local grocery stores.

So to answer the question of “Is Aioli just a mayo?”, to that I say not really. I personally think it is in a class all its own.

What is Sriracha?

The origin of sriracha is a bit unclear, it is believed to have originated in Southeast Asia and is closely associated with Thai cuisine. In the United States, sriracha is sometimes referred to as “rooster sauce” and has become a much more common condiment in recent years.

My husband and I are not real big on hot spicy sauces, but surprisingly we do not have a problem with Sriracha!?

Sriracha has only a moderate spice balanced with a mildly sweet tanginess. The heat factor does not linger, which I like very much.

Simple ingredients go into this sauce, such as chili peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, a sweetener, and salt.

I have found a Sriracha that we have fallen in love with that has organic, vegan, gluten free, and non-gmo ingredients, as well a sweetener other than regular sugar.

I have not ventured into making my own hot sauce, but I may have to start!

Ingredients

1 Cup Avocado Oil

1/2 Cup Unsweetened Plain Almond Milk

1 Tbsp Sriracha Sauce

1 tsp Minced Garlic

1 Tbsp Lime Juice

1 tsp Onion Powder

Instructions

The most important part of this recipe is that all your ingredients MUST be room temperature.

If you choose to not let these ingredients sit out to reach room temperature, you can warm them up in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds.

Check to see if the almond milk is room temperature before adding the avocado oil.

Add the spices, maple syrup, sriracha sauce, and lime juice to the almond milk and oil mix, then pour into a quart jar to blend.

You will need an immersion blender to blend the perfect aioli. You will only need to blend no more than a minute to get the consistency of a mayo.

After blending, cover and store in the refrigerator for about an hour before using.

The aioli will last about a week in the refrigerator.

Ways to serve your aioli

Try the aioli on anything that you would add sour cream to, like chili, baked potatoes, burritos, or nachos.

Another use for aioli is as a spread on your favorite hot or cold sandwich.

One of my favorites is as a dip, try it with crackers, chips, fries, even raw vegetables!
