Trust me, it is worth making these quick and easy homemade croutons.
The perfectly seasoned cubed bread with a crispy outside and a soft inside make these perfect for any soup, salad or even as a snack.
What type of bread works the best for these croutons?
You can use any bread you have on hand, a white or different grain breads all work really well.
Artisan breads are another way to go, but I don’t like to use this expensive bread on croutons, I would rather enjoy this bread as a sandwich.
My favorite bread is Bagels!
And why bagels?
They come in so many different varieties and they hold up very well to the oil that is drizzled over them.
Bagels bake up nicely with a warm crispy brown outside and stay moist and soft on the inside of the crouton.

What seasonings can be used for the croutons?
You can mix together many different spices each time you make these croutons, here are just a few examples.
- Italian seasoning
- Onion powder
- Garlic powder
- Oregano
- Basil
- Thyme
- Rosemary
- Sage
How to serve these croutons
- Soups – Sprinkle the croutons on any soup instead of crackers.
- Chili – Replace the crackers with croutons!
- Salads – Who doesn’t love croutons on a salad?
- Snacking – Keep a jar of these crunchy treats in the cupboard for a quick and easy treat.
- Serve them on anything your heart desires!
Ingredients used in these croutons
- Bagels – For my croutons, I like to use a plain bagel. I like the seasonings to be the main flavor in the croutons. But any variety of bagel will work for your croutons.
- Oil – There are only 2 oils that I prefer for these croutons, Olive and Avocado oil. I love the avocado oil because of the mild buttery flavor. But the olive oil can add a range of profiles from delicate to complex.
- Seasonings – For these croutons I used salt, Italian seasoning, onion and garlic powder. But try different seasoning combinations each time you make these croutons to find your favorites.
How to make these Easy Homemade Croutons
Preheat the oven to 350° F.
Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cube the bagels and spread them evenly over the parchment paper.
Measure out the oil and drizzle over the bagel cubes.
Sprinkle the seasonings evenly.
With your hands, lightly toss the cubes to make sure everything is covered with the oil and seasonings.
Place into the oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until slightly browned.
Remove from the oven to let the croutons cool.
Store the croutons in a large canning jar with a airtight cover.

Ingredients
- 3 to 4 Bagels I used a plain bagel.
- 1/3 Cup Oil Avocado or Olive oil.
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350° F.
