This Tangy Vegan Strawberry Sauce is so simple and perfect for just about anything.
Just the right smooth creamy texture with just a little sweetness and a little tang for any sweet or savory dessert or meal.
It works great as a salad dressing, a sandwich spread, as a dip for crackers, vegetables, or even fruit!
In this recipe I did not add any extra sweetness (no sugar of any kind).
I believe the strawberries add just enough sweetness to the sauce, so I wanted all the ingredients to blend into a more tart sauce, rather than a sweet sauce.
But I will include in the recipe a touch of sweetness for those who want a sweeter sauce, or to just change it up a bit.
What is in this Tangy Vegan Strawberry Sauce?
- Strawberries – Strawberries are a member of the rose family and are one of the most popular fruits in the world. A widely used fruit that can work great on so many different foods: such as sweets, mixed in salads, added on sandwiches, use as a dip, or add to drinks.
- Basil – Basil is a herb from the mint family, with hints of mint, anise, and pepper. In this recipe I used my fresh Lemon Basil from my own garden, but there are so many varieties of basil that would compliment this strawberry sauce.
- Garlic – I used a minced garlic, but a powdered garlic will work as well.
- Onion Powder – Gives this recipe the right amount of richness.
- Lemon Juice – Lemon juice gives this recipe a fresh and clean taste.
- Avocado Oil -This oil has a neutral taste which makes it perfect for this sauce. Avocado oil is fast becoming a go to oil for everything, it can be used in dressings, salads, and even used in cooking and baking. And because of the neutral taste and the high smoke point, why wouldn’t it?
- Vegan Mayo Alternative – A light and creamy mild taste.
- Balsamic Vinegar – Perfect for a mellow tartness instead of the strong acidic taste of regular vinegar.
- Real Maple Syrup – This is optional. I did not use any in my recipe but this can be added to your sauce if you would like that extra sweetness or if you want to change this sauce into a fruit dip.

Ways to serve or use this Tangy Vegan Strawberry Sauce
As a Dip – This sauce will make a perfect dip for any vegetable, fruit, or even for chips and crackers.
A Spread – This sauce makes for an awesome flavorful vegan mayo replacement for your sandwiches. I like to pile on the vegetables and fruits that bring out the flavor of this creamy sauce, such as fresh strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, spinach, and avocado.
As a Salad Dressing – Homemade is always better for dressing a salad! Tangy, creamy, with a mild sweetness. I poured this dressing on a bed of spinach, sprinkled with dried blueberries, and sunflower seeds. Such a refreshing and healthy meal!
