Have you ever noticed how much wasted space is in the garage? Or wondered how to keep the garage organized?
Well I thought I would share with you some of my Tips on how to organize your garage!
Let us start the organizing!
Shelving
Instead of putting shelves on the floor, why not build shelves from the ceiling down. Using the empty wall space is a great way to get things off the floor and to look more organized.
Another great place to add shelves is above the garage door, we don’t have enough space in that area, so we left that space alone, but don’t forget that option.

Holiday Decorations
Shelves are a great space to organize Holiday Decorations!
Make sure to use clear bins for this, you want to see what is in each bin without taking the bin down off the shelf.
Start off by filling each bin with your Holiday decorations.
I recommend that you give each Holiday their own set of bins. Don’t mix Holidays.
And once you are done filling your bins, it is time to put the bins up on the shelves.
Make sure to keep each Holiday together on the shelves. It keeps them organized and you will know what you have for your Holiday decor.
Misc. Items
In some areas of the garage, I do not use clear bins. I prefer the solid bins for certain items, like winter clothing and camping gear. Those can be labeled so you will be able to see what is in these bins without taking them down.
Tool Boxes and Cabinets
The next place to organize are the tool boxes and cabinets. Tool boxes are not that hard to organize, the trick is to keeping them organized after they get picked over. Try to go through them about every 3 to 6 months to maintain the organization.
In the cabinets, I love to use clear containers for my screws, hooks and other misc. items.
Tips on how to organize that Garage Attic
Not only is it important to organize the lower part of your garage, but it is equally important in the garage attic ( if you have one).
In my attic, I put down a floor and added shelves to the sides. Remember, not all attics are the same, but you can figure out ways to utilize this space as well.
I have all my larger Holiday decorations in this space, since I only have to get these down once a year.
It is also a great storage area for those extra tables and misc. things that you may need every once in a while.
These are some great ways to utilize the forgotten spaces in the garage as well as help you organize these spaces.
